1. Introduction
This Privacy Policy describes how KanoonPe Technologies Pvt Ltd ("KanoonPe", "we", "us") processes personal data when you use the website at kanoon.online and our platform (the "Platform"). For the purposes of the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (the "DPDP Act"), KanoonPe acts as a Data Fiduciary in respect of the personal data you provide.
2. Information We Collect
- Account information: name, email address, phone number, business details and login credentials.
- KYC and service documents: identity and supporting documents needed to deliver a service — for example PAN, Aadhaar, incorporation documents, GST details and financial records — collected with your consent.
- Transaction data: orders, invoices and payment status (card and bank details are handled by our payment processors, not stored by us).
- Usage and device data: log data, IP address, browser type, pages viewed and interactions, used to operate and improve the Platform.
3. How We Use Your Information
- to create and manage your account;
- to match you with a verified professional and deliver the services you order;
- to complete filings and submissions with relevant government portals on your behalf;
- to process payments, send invoices and provide customer support;
- to send service updates, and — where you have consented — marketing communications; and
- to maintain security, prevent fraud and comply with legal obligations.
4. Legal Basis & Consent (DPDP Act)
We process your personal data based primarily on your consent, which is sought through a clear, specific and informed request at the point of collection, as required by the DPDP Act. Where permitted, we may also process data for certain legitimate uses, such as performing a service you requested or complying with a legal obligation. You may withdraw your consent at any time, as easily as it was given; withdrawal does not affect processing already carried out, but may limit our ability to deliver a service.
5. Sharing with Professionals & Government Portals
To deliver your service, we share relevant data with the independent professional assigned to your order and, where required, with government portals and authorities (such as the MCA, Income Tax Department or GST portal). We may also share data with trusted service providers (such as payment processors and cloud hosting) who act as Data Processors under contractual safeguards. We do not sell your personal data.
6. Data Security
We implement reasonable technical and organisational safeguards — including encryption in transit, access controls and secure cloud infrastructure — to protect your personal data against unauthorised access, loss or misuse. While no system is perfectly secure, we take prompt steps to assess and, where required, notify the Data Protection Board and affected users of any personal data breach.
7. Data Retention
We retain personal data only for as long as necessary to provide the services, comply with legal, tax and regulatory obligations, and resolve disputes. When data is no longer required and there is no legal obligation to keep it, we delete or anonymise it.
8. Your Rights
Subject to the DPDP Act, you have the right to:
- access a summary of the personal data we process about you;
- request correction or completion of inaccurate data;
- request erasure of your data where it is no longer required;
- nominate another individual to exercise your rights in case of death or incapacity; and
- raise a grievance and seek redressal (see the Grievance Officer section below).
To exercise any right, email hello@kanoon.online.
9. A Note on Aadhaar
Where a service requires Aadhaar, you provide it voluntarily and on a consent basis only. Aadhaar is never compelled by KanoonPe; alternative identification is accepted wherever the law permits. Aadhaar data is used strictly for the specific filing or verification you have requested, handled in line with applicable UIDAI guidance, and not used for any unrelated purpose.
10. Cookies
We use cookies and similar technologies to keep you signed in, remember preferences, and understand how the Platform is used. Essential cookies are required for the Platform to function; you can control non-essential cookies through your browser settings.
11. Children
The Platform is intended for users aged 18 and above and is not directed at children. Consistent with the DPDP Act, we do not knowingly process the personal data of a child without verifiable parental consent. If you believe a child has provided us data, please contact us so we can take appropriate action.
